a small way to make a big difference 📩

Remember the last time someone wrote you a hand-written letter? In the story above I recall one of my favorite memories as a high school athlete: getting a handwritten note from my coach.

Not all activities have to include participation from your athletes.

What do you think it would mean if one of your athletes opened up their locker today and saw a handwritten note from you? Nothing fancy, just something on a 3x5 card that told them you appreciate something about them.

I bet they would keep that with them loooong after the season is over.

My high school volleyball coach did this. She would drop random notes in our duffle bags and always made sure we felt valued. It was especially important to me, because I SUCKED at volleyball, and was very rarely put in the match.

But, I knew my coached loved me, regardless of my ability. Coach K was a Transformational Coach

Take a few minutes right now and hand write a few notes for your athletes. Maybe take your roster and start checking off each athlete when you do it to make sure no one is left out. Make it random, so they don't expect it.
