The Quiet Battle: Navigating Coach Burnout

Link to Coach Burnout Survey

As coaches, we constantly push boundaries—not just for our athletes but ourselves. This relentless pursuit of excellence often comes at a cost, leading us into the shadowy grips of burnout. Burnout in coaching is much like overtraining in athletes: it creeps up silently, fueled by the relentless pressure to win, the exhaustive hours of preparation, and the emotional toll of molding young talents. Recognizing the signs early and taking proactive steps is crucial in navigating this challenge.

The roots of burnout run deep, entangled with the constant pursuit of success, administrative pressures, and personal sacrifices. As coaches, finding balance may seem daunting, but it's a responsibility we must embrace for our own well-being and effectiveness. Establishing clear boundaries, seeking support, and prioritizing self-care are not just strategies but essential practices that fuel our passion and drive.

Recovering from burnout is a transformative journey that reconnects us with the essence of why we started coaching. It's a path of self-discovery, a commitment to change our work habits, and sometimes making tough decisions for our well-being. This journey leads us back to the joy and love of the game, reigniting our purpose and passion.

Our kids need great coaches, just like we did when we were young—mentors who can guide them with wisdom, empathy, and resilience.

As we stand together in this quiet battle against burnout, I'm excited to announce a free educational virtual workshop on navigating coach burnout, tailored specifically for you, the backbone of our athletes' success. But before we dive into this workshop, I'd like your input to make it as impactful as possible. Please take a moment to inform the curriculum by answering a few questions (Please only pick a few that resonate with you!) in this Google survey. Your insights and experiences are invaluable in shaping a workshop that truly resonates with and benefits our coaching community. Thank you!
