Normalizing Championship Reps

Teaching a sense of personal accountability for effort in practice has to be intentional. I ask my athletes, "what is the difference between the first pitch of the season and the first pitch of the championship game?"

The answer: The size of the crowd.

That's it.

  • "We have to win the first game of the season."

  • "We have to win the first game of the championship series."

Nothing much changes throughout the season.

  • The mechanics are the same.

  • The mindset is the same.

  • The rules of the game are the same.

Normalize the idea of championship reps. The big game may be months away, but the preparation starts today, right now.
